Courtney Walter is a Managing Partner and founding member of InveniasPartners and is based in our St. Louis office. Courtney possesses over 25 years financial and operations management experience, primarily in the health insurance and managed care industry, and is a CPA with over nine years of experience as an Audit Manager with Ernst & Young.
Courtney has held the positions of CFO for Spectrum Emergency Care, Vice President and Controller for MetLife Healthcare Management, Executive VP and CFO for HealthLink and Vice President Medical Economics for Group Health Plan (Coventry). In these executive roles, Courtney has been responsible for accounting, financial reporting, statutory reporting, budgeting and forecasting, treasury, and management of retirement plan assets. Courtney also has significant operational experience in the areas of strategic planning, new business development, health plan operations, IT, marketing, and customer and client service.
As a consultant, Courtney has focused on new business development, start-ups, feasibility studies and strategic planning primarily in healthcare industry.
While at HealthLink (acquired by WellPoint), Courtney was also responsible for payor relations where he managed and interfaced with over 200 medium–sized health insurers, TPAs and large self-funded payors both commercial and Taft-Hartley Trusts. In this role he worked with payors on product design, health plan benefit design, and worked with actuaries and healthcare consultants to measure and/or predict the financial impact of such plan changes and modifications. In Courtney's Medical Economics role, he was responsible for analyzing and monitoring healthcare costs versus budget and expected trend, and proposing actions to arrest or alter over-utilization or abuse.
Courtney holds a BA in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He serves as the Board President and Treasurer for The Belle Center in St. Louis and is a United Way Volunteer.
